The name picked for the new anti-submarine weapon - Hedgehog - attracted a prize of a bottle of sherry. The PIAT should have been named the Jefferis Bomb, after its designer. Cecil Clarke designed a two-storey caravan but his war work was far more spectacular. This book is the back story to the development of the weapons devised by Colin Gubbins' organisation that supplied SOE and made advances in other areas that helped to change the outcome of WW2. Design and production of those weapons was done at a fast pace and was kept separate from interference and red tape from the Ministry of Supply. All this was achievable thanks only to Churchill's personal backing. This was a thoroughly enjoyable read.
