There was a time when few people in UK would have known what this is.

I was told it is a WWI Austrian 2.75cm Mountain gun cartridge.

Looks like an Austrian M15 bouncing round. When it hits, black powder charge fires it up into the air where the main charge pops the projectile to increase the lethality .You can see the partition in the middle of the projectile. There were like projectiles for the Priest mortar round, a bit before the ww2 S mine.
