French Model 1804 Naval Cutless - with unusual manufacturer stamps

Evening All,

Just been doing a little research on a couple of naval cutlasses, which appear to match the French Model 1804 Naval Cutlass (Sabre de Marine Briquet ANXI) but not with the typical French markings.

The story "behind" the swords is that they suppose to have been Chinese "pirate" swords, which may hold some merit examining the markings on /near the ricasso.

I can't make out the stamp on the D guard..............

If anyone can shed some light on the markings and /or if the French exported the Model 1804 to other countries, would be of course greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Cheers
Drew

When you think that they are Chinese, I think that's you are very short to the reality !
Markings seems to be Chinese marks !

Just for those that may be interested, the stamps are Turkish "Tugra" (Stamp of the Sultan). The non-ricasso stamp is a more decorative stamp and the latest thoughts are that the D guard stamp was probably a French proof.

It was patterned after the French 1816 Infantry Briquet and exported to Turkey from France.
