Purchased at Beltring today, here is an H83 Mk2 tin that was used to hold 5 Grenade Discharger Anti Riot Long Range L11A1.

These were CS rounds intended for use in the Grenade Discharger Anti Riot L1A1, which was a hand held shoulder weapon, electrically fired, but they could also be fired from various smoke dischargers on AFVs.

The tin has been stencilled PROOF on the lid, as well as having PROOF P11-P16 written on the side. Can anyone explain what the hand written R.N.A and M.R.L markings indicate.

(PS on my iPad the tin looks slightly green, but the colour is actually grey)

Nice tin. CS and early Baton Round tins are not common are they ?
Certainly not something you see everyday. It was "Medium Range" stencilled on the lid of the L5A5 tin that made me notice it, and then on a different stall it was the grey colour that made the CS tin stand out from the others.
