1.5" Anti Riot Irritant L2A1 and L2A2

I picked up this 1959 dated Anti Riot Irritant L2A1 CS empty case in auction yesterday. It was made by Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) and has no head-stamp.

I already had a 1966 dated 1.5" Anti Riot Irritant L2A2 CS empty case. It was made by Imperial Metal Industries (IMI) and loaded by Schermuly Pistol Rocket Apparatus (SPRA). This also has no head-stamp.

(IMI was formed out of ICI in 1962)
Does anyone know when the L2A1 and L2A2 CS cartridges were introduced?
