I am doing some research on the British 893 PD fuze and cannot find anything on this.

No. 893 fuze was a nose fuze for use in 60lb HE (3" R.P.) Air-to-surface rocket.
Very briefly it consists of an inertia release sleeve that is 'set back' on launch releasing the striker piston. The plunger has an air intake hole drilled in it and in flight, air enters through it into the fuze body and into a small cavity beneath the striker. The air pressure causes the striker to lift, thus allowing the shutter to swing into the armed position.
