7,5cm SprGr.34 für KwK 40 und PaK 40

Just showing off the new toy... an unfired 1944 dated 7,5cm SprGr.34 with fuze, gaine and tracer unit that has arrived from Poland.

It has various spots of pitting, but it's a cut above the usual rusty relics I play with. It wasn't a bad price either.
 
Poland is a wonderful source for such items that is still open to the UK. It is rapidly being closed off to the US as Polish customs seems to be dramatically enhancing its detection capabilities. Just about all the Polish shippers of such items have had issues with Polish law enforcement recently.

I would like to offer that I am 99% certain your German HE shell is a 7.62 cm version made for captured Russian guns. I have 10 of the 75mm Sprgr 34 and a few 7.62 cm shells for comparison.

Ah. Not good. I was wanting to put together a Panzer IV / StuG round. How do you tell the difference?
 
It is all in the shape of the driving band. The 75mm version is chamfered on both sides. The 76mm version is not. Also, if you look in D 435 - the German handbook on cannon and mortar ammo, it shows no versions of the 75mm Spr gr 34 with a tracer element for the Pak 40 or KwK 40. Photo attached with two 75mm Spr gr 34 with original paint and "sloppy FES" markings.

Second time lucky...

The dealer I bought it off (AKM Militaria) had a SprGr.34, so I sent the PaK36(r) back for an exchange. Not as nice condition, but going by the drive band shape it is definitely a SprGr.34. Unlike the PaK36(r), I shall be doing a full refurb on this plus I will try and source a nicer KLAZ23 fuze.

PS. He actually said he had a significant quantity of 7,5cm SprGr.34 HE shells should anyone want one. I assume they're semi-relic ones like this. I think it's been on a fire at some point to burn out the filling.
