A typo! The first is a Mk.I not a Mk.II.

P.S. I've just noticed that your first image shows a safety cap which is, according to the R.L. plate incorrect.

The Mk.I was introduced May 1891 LOC 6038
Mk.II was introduced March 1895 LOC 7229 & 7635.

There were THREE different lengths for the three Marks ofthe No. 10 fuze:
Mk I 3.1in
MkII 4.11in
MkIII 2.35in
Depotman
