Found two of these cases. Very faint h/s. Did a little photo editing to highlight what was there. Looks like CANNE 7m/m. Can't find any reference to the round.

Made by Gevelot, of France. For a walking-stick shotgun. They were also made in 9mm and 11 or 12mm (can't remember which). Bulleted rounds with shorter case were also available. They were also made here in the UK by Eley and Kynoch.

A little shotgun shell! I would have never guessed that. Sadly, they are both empty hulls.
 
Yep, spot on ydnum303, "canne" is French for cane, i.e. walking stick. My records show a 12mm, 9mm and 7mm cartridge.
