A lucky spot in amongst an auction lot.

CART. 1.5IN. RUBBER BULLET MK 1.

This is a commercial baton round made by Schermuly.

The case head is stamped 10/75 FPL, loaded in April 1976. Black rubber plug type baton. The case mouth would have been closed with a (black) metal cap similar to the L5 series baton rounds.

I was bidding on that too ;) Interesting item.
I wondered who pushed the bidding up. Sorry Tony.

Yes it’s interesting. I’d not seen one before, but it
is shown/described in the attached Schermuly pages from the British Defence Equipment Catalogue 1977 edition. It is the middle round, which has the word BULLET just discernable in the original photo.

Need to keep an eye out for the multi-baton variant now!

SAM_0021.JPGI'm interested to see the grenades in the second picture. I have this Inert practice anti riot grenade, but it doesn't have SPRA on it, just a No. 1 before the date, 3/75. I had some of those old catalogues a long time ago, but someone had cut all the interesting pictures out !
