Were the Home Guard who used the .3006 P17 rifles supplied American made .3006 Ammo or British made K .3006 ammo or both a mixture.

It was all purchased from the US along with the weapons from about 1940 onwards. It all had US headstamps but was allocated British pattern codes e.g. .30 Ball Mk Iz. Dummy cartridges were made up here in the UK but used US cases and components. These dummies come in a variety of shapes & sizes but tend to follow the British style of markings.....typically holes drilled in the sides of cases and red wooden bullets.
