Brass corrosion

Evening.

I was having a quick look at some of my german cases and noticed some sort of green rust looking stuff on the inside of one of them. Is it something to remove and clean or do people just leave it as is?

Cheers

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. Copper corrodes and oxidizes to a green color. If the surface is clean and free of other chemicals, salts, etc., it will stay clean for a long time. Your case looks like it was splashed or stained with something that is causing the corrosion. It could be as simple as burning propellant residue that the case picked up upon firing.

Cleaning cases is at the preference of the owner. Some leave them as is, with the opposite being to not only clean them, but to polish them to a mirror finish. I would personally clean the case enough to remove the green corrosion. There are a number of postings here on BOCN that discuss brass cleaning methods. Try the search function to find them.

After you digest all of that, you will conclude that the subject has been beat to death.
