Hello.

Can some one confirm the length of a 15 cm sk l/45 cartridge case. I’ve seen two lengths one was 815mm and other was a lot longer at 865mm.

15 cm L/45 is 815 mm. I do not know of a 865 mm long 15 cm case. The Dutch navy used 855 mm long L/40 cases, older cases were made by Karlsruhe. Maybe you mean that length?

Thankyou for the reply, the 865 length was from Navweaps. Seemed strange as the other cases was 815mm. Hopefully a case will be in my collection soon so just wanted a confirm on the length.

i Think the size on the Navweapon is incl the brass cap on the cartridge. This is the real size as unit for storage, loading etc. Looking at the length in the book "german naval guns, shells etc", you can see the cartridge sizes, incl caps.
