Hi all,

Just acquired this fuze, was told it was French but that's all the seller knew, anyone have any Ideas on the type and date? it measures 10cm in length, is all brass apart from a steel ring at the top and the only marking on it is an "E". Cheers guys.

Hello,
Very nice french artillery fuze 24-31mm "T.C.A.L" model 1926
Stamp E indicates the fuze was made in a mold (in French "étampe")

Thought someone might be able to help me with this ...

So this fuze is listed in TM 9-1985-3 but it is listed as:

24/31 TCAL 26 CR

AND

24/31 TCAL 26 3

What are the differences between these and as they the same as your fuze? I think one of them is, which one I am not sure because I cannot figure out the CR and 3 after the 26 in the nomenclatures.

Joe

Hello Joe,
I really don't know what means 3 in the designation 24-31 TCAL 26 3
These fuzes are listed like this :
-24-31 TCAL 26 CR = Court Retard (short delay)
-24-31 TCAL 26 LR = Long Retard (long delay)
-24-31 TCAL 26 I = Instantanée (instantaneous)
Same external shape for all these fuzes.
Regards
