Sorry didn’t see your post, I was on holiday in South Africa at the time.

The illustration was taken from a 2010 publication, I don’t know which publication as I was only sent an extract describing the baton rounds.

    d. Round A-Riot Drill 37 mm L23. (See Fig 2-1c) This round is available as
an aid to anti-riot training. It is the same size and shape as the L21 37 mm Baton
Round. The alloy cartridge case is dark blue in colour with the word ‘ROUND, ARIOT,
DRILL, 37 mm, L23A1’ etched on its side. The cap chamber at the base is
spring loaded to enable the firing drills to be practised without damaging the
    firing pin.

Wanted: Baton/Irritant rounds (inert) and associated items, .700 NE (inert) and boxes (empty), .32-40 cartridge boxes (empty), WW2 British shotgun cartridge boxes (empty), Greener Police Gun cartridge boxes (empty). Message me if you have any of these items for sale/trade.

Looking back through old posts I have just realised that spotter posted a diagram of the L23A1 drill round several years ago.
I’m still looking to purchase one.
