OK, repeat after me - " I don't collect artillery cases anymore - only torpedo related pistols"................
So when I stumbled upon this Japanese 47mm Type 1 tank gun/ant-tank gun shell case yesterday ......well old habits die hard don't they!!!! :tinysmile_shy_t:
Anyway - this is the first ever 47mm x 283R case I have found - great condition as well.
Interesting head-stamp marking - I suspect the case first (& second) date characters (R>L) have been "over-stamped" as I'm clearly unable to recognize it - open to any thoughts?
If it is close to the primer date then perhaps May, 1941. (Primer is: Showa 10+7 11)= Showa 17 (Nov, 1942).
Further, how does one determined whether it was for Type1 tank gun / or for the anti-tank gun? Exact same round?
Enjoy!
Cheers
Drew
BTW - It's up for trade/swap
