Vickers Class S 40mm cannon - aircraft mounted.

Would anybody have information about this type of gun regarding how it works ie; armourers notes etc, plus any other applications it was used for:questionmark:

There is some (limited) information about the gun in "The Hurricane II manual" published by the RAF Museum.

The book is a reprint of the Official Air Publication for the Hurricane and it includes an addenda for the Hurricane IID. It describeds the installation, alignement and loading of the gun. There are ony two pages on the gun in the book so I would try to look at a copy before buying.

There's a whole chapter on the S Gun in Wallace's Guns of the RAF. Long out of print, so you'll have to hunt for a second-hand one.

There's about three pages on it in Wallace Clarke's British Aircraft Armament Vol 2, although sadly this includes the wrong ammo picture (a 37x263B for the BK 3,7, for some odd reason!).
