I obtained this 15x104mm case yesterday, i dont have any information on this German ww2 round except the case length was shortened to 101mm, my question is the meaning of the eagle stamp with M11/5 underneath, comments welcome, thanks
The German cases were made slightly shorter due to the design of the driving band.
The original Czech design used a copper jacketed projectile with the bands formed as part of the copper jacket. These were partially contained inside the case neck.
The German version used a projectile with an iron driving band similar to German 20mm, which was outside of the case neck.
Here are the 15x104 and the 15x101 for comparison.
The left one with German case and Czech bullet and the right one with German case and German bullet.
