Just picked up a nice 17pdr case with manufacturers stamp ‘LNE’. Was this the LNER railway company? There doesn’t appear to be an R after the E. Any thoughts?
interestingly, although originally manufactured in 1943, it was reused again in 1955.

many thanks, Dave

LNE is most likely to be London North Eastern Railway.

LNER was the monogram for London North Eastern Railway, Darlington.

LNED was an older variant for London North Eastern Railway, Dukinfield, Cheshire, while LNEC was a newer variant for Dukinfield. LNED was then attributed to London North Eastern Railway, Doncaster (for construction of boxes).
