2 pounder No241 Fuze.

I recently received these two detonators.
I know they are for the 2 pounder, but this type of information I can find anywhere. I like to hear more from you.

Here you are -

No. 241 Fuze used on:-
1) 2 pdr, L.V., 3-pdr. And 6-pdr. HE Shell
2) The K device with 6 inch C.P.B.C. shell and 8 inch S.A.P.C.

The fuze shown is a Mk I.
The Z denotes that it was fitted with a Lead Azide detonator.
The N denotes it was a Naval store
VAD Vickers Armstrong, Dartford The manufacturer
It would appear to have manufactured in October 1936 and filled in December 1938.

The K device ? paintballing for battleships

K Device

" The K devices are fitted to certain types of piercing shells and piercing projectiles so that the firing ship may identify the fall of its own shot by the colour of the splashes. The outfit for a ship are all of the same colour.

This device consists of a ballistic cap which has:-
(1) A suitable weight of coloured dyestuff. The colours supplied are red yellow, green and white......
.... The fuze functions on impact with the water, the device is exploded and the dyestuff colours the water. "
