20mm dummy(?) round

F0031

Well-Known Member
Can anyone provide more information about this 20mm round. The black stuff is some kind of plastic. Total length 183mm. The tip is brass with a small hole, and non-detachable. The exposed head and rim are brass. Stamped MBL-71, 20MM-M55. There's iron in there somewhere because it's magnetic. Thanks,

Tony

What you have is a drill round for the 20x110mm Hispano-Suiza that was made by Milan Blagojevic Lucani of Serbia. I have an identical round except the MBL on mine is in Cyrillic. There have been several loadings made in the Former Yugolslavia in this case type, M57 HEIT, M57 HET, M57 HEI, M57 HE, M60 API, M60 APIT, M60 APT, M57 TPT, M57 TP, M79 TPT, M77 Blank and the Drill round. There is also a similar drill round with a steel body in place of the black plastic. They were for use in the M55, HS 404 and HS 804 antiaircraft guns, except for hte M79 TPT which was a subcaliber training cartridge.
