Got this little item today, appears to be some kind of tool or guage, Approx. 29mm long and 10mm wide, only measured with a ruler. Well marked: 29mm Spigot Mortar on one side and Field use, strike clear on the other. Anyone know exactly what it is for ? many thanks, Tony.29mm G 1.jpg29mm G 2.jpg

Looks like it may be some kind of firing pin protrusion guage to ensure that the pin is within spec. Probably dropped out of an armourers field tool box. Used as a go / no go type tool. This is my guess, as it looks like similar item I have used in the past. Hope this helps. Hugh

According to the Identification Guide, Hugh is spot on:

Gauge, Striker, Protrusion, No 33, Mk I. Part No CM2015
