3 Pounder Hotchkiss Drill (47 x 376R)

British 3 Pounder Hotchkiss Drill. (47 x 376R)

The wooden projectile is stamped R L 1903 /I\.

Headstamp: /I\ in circle. KN with horizontal M. Small N, possibly indicates Naval use. No date on base.

Primer: R L I

The rim is knurled.

I believe the lines on the base are from each time it was used and ''fired".

A thing of beauty ! One might think the firing pin was not retracting properly, but I'm sure it was used more than three times. Certainly Naval use.

Are there screws in the neck ? Nice weather too ~ :tinysmile_cry_t2:

the KN mark is King's Norton case maker but it has often another letter intertwined, in your case the M, but never found out the meaning of this third letter.
