35 x 238 case

Attached are photographs of a 35 x 238 case next to a 35 x 228 case (for scale).
The dimensions are the same apart from the neck on the longer one is 10mm longer.
Does anyone have any information regarding the longer of the 2 cases. I can't find reference to it on any of the cartridge listings I have.
Any ideas what the headstamp means?
Dave.

Hi Dave....the original KD length was 231mm according to article in ECRA bulletin which i'll look up when i get home. Don't recall a 238mm length being mentioned though....

Hi Dave,
could it be an unfinished case? the lack of the lacquer finish could also support this?

Thanks Tony, its an idea.............I'd think they'd headstamp after making the case the right size............any experts out there on case manufacture that could give an opinion on that?
Dave.

........if that is a headstamp per se?, no date or other info usually found from a headstamp.
What is the norm for a headstamp on one of these rounds Dave? I have no idea about these rounds as they are outside of my collecting limit(just!) so just ideas on it I'm afraid, but could the 'headstamp' be markings for a test run? The A does look a little out of sync when you magnify the photo as if applied by hand?
