37mm but what can you tell me about it?

This came in a box of bits and I know nothing about it. The marks from the top left to right....AM LO1 37mm GUN...... under that two crossed canons behind a circle or wheel...then overstamped.... 1098-3B....across the middle....MODEL OF 1916.....around the bottom....1836 - 1 W.P.S. Co....on the primer at 12 o'clock...F - then from 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock.......\ 089 - /

The last photo shows the base of the projectile There is a screw thread in the opening. The cavity inside is bored out larger than the opening. many thanks...paul
 
also used in sub cal guns. Was exported to Russia during WW1 and saw combat in early WW2 in the Pacific, when times were darkest. In WW1, came in both black powder and HE loadings, with appropriate fuzes.
