4 Inch QF MK XVI casing.

DEADLINE222

I absolutely must show off my newest treasure.

It is a virtually mint condition, 1943 dated, 4 Inch QF MK XVI casing.

The sickening part is I paid only $9.99 for it, along with $24.00 to ship. The shipping amount on the package was $42.00!

I would bet that someone is none too pleased with this transaction.........

I am mesmerized by the size of the primer.

Can anyone tell me where this casing was manufactured?

I would imagine that these casings are as rare as hen's teeth here in the US. Do they appear in the UK?

Neat.

Would this casing made it to the war? Royal Canadian Navy or Royal Navy?

I assume the RNC stamp has meaning?

I would imagine so. RNC is the manufacturer of the Cordite, which I think is the Royal Navy Cordite Factory, Holton Heath. That would suggest RN use, but I'm sure the RCN operated out of the UK as well.

What are the markings on the primer?

The primer was manufactered in 1943 by PFP/C - Parker Fountain Pen Co., Canada. The primer was filled by Cr/C - Canadian Car Munitions, Cherrier, Canada in 10/43.
