75mm M18 case with British style headstamp

Falcon

This is a recent car boot find.

What gun was this case intended to be used for by the UK (or possibly Canada)? 1940 seems very early for non-US use.

Am I correct that the B in diamond manufacturer's mark was used by the Bridgeport Brass Co.?

Thanks for any information

I have Lot 64 1941 from same maker.
Also one stamped: CL/C 1941 Lot 293 CF 75MM (over) M18 (Canadian Motor Lamp Co).

We took some US M1917 75mm guns into service in 1940. These were basically an 18 pdr built as a 75mm.

Thanks for that. I had never heard of that gun.

I don't believe that my case has ever been primed, loaded or fired. Perhaps new cases were purchased from the USA to be loaded in the UK?
