This Russian movie is known as "9th Company" https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0417397/. It is one of the best about the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan, probably best described as a hybrid of American "Platoon" and Italian "Mediterraneo". It takes you from a Soviet paratrooper boot camp all the way to war deployment and the final mission just before the Soviet withdrawal. Very truthful and human, excellent acting and plenty of pyrotechnics. Very pertinent for today, September 1, 2021, the 1st day after a 20 year American involvement in Afghanistan.
Based on a true event.
Somebody wrote in IMDb "In reality, only 6 of 39 soviet soldiers from the 9th company were killed on hill 3234. There were over 200 dead on the opposite side"
