Anyone help with this WW2 German Crate?

It is a lead lined monster..., would guess it weighs in at 50-60lbs. Built like a tank with braces all around! Used to be light before I got old....

Anyhow, looks to be dated WaA 1942 and then a 1944 label below. Also stenciled "luftd pulver Kasten 6" on the side and a few other stencils. Lots of addresses for the Lt. Col. who shipped it back.

Thanks for any help!
- Mike

Can you take a close up picture of the label on left up? Are there any other original labels or text on the crate?

Thanks Subs!

Blew it up a bit more. Too bad it is rubbed. Same partial tag on inside of lid. Will check for more and post pic of inside. Funny thing, they had it labeled as an icebox, and I've passed it by before several times. Maybe I shouldn't have looked again, the back hurts. Or maybe it's the 20"s of snow falling right now.... :tinysmile_cry_t4:

From stencils I read "Luftd(ichter) Pulverkasten C " which means there has been gunpowder of some sort, Label would tell what kind.

Here is a pic of the inside. Do see a "10,5" on the label. Maybe for the 105 Howitzer? Would have had rope handles through the bolted side braces.

That's a transport crate for 50 Kg. loose propellant charge, containing "Digl. R.P." (diglykol tubular powder), made by "Deutsche Sprengchemie GmbH, Werk Oderberg/Eberswalde-Finow".

For the nomenclature of labeling this example may help:

:tinysmile_shy_t: Thank you Sudelmuk! That pretty much sums it up. Now to dust it off and add it to the collection.

Best regards!
