apds tin

picked this up at the local booty today on the side is SHOT APDS SX 137GE it has been painted over and re stenciled any reason for this ?
and stamped in the lid is ROF (W) 41 HB&S 1968 the tin is 5" wide and 12" long what sort of apds would have been inside

Hi Lee, nice tin. Just going off the measurements you give (5 inches diameter = about 127mm) it would seem safe to say it would be a 120mm apds that went in the tin. All the apds projectiles that I have that are still in tins/plastic cases are a fairly snug fit so it would be too large for a 105 or 110 apds.

Lee the tin was almost certainly made at the Woodley factory (a mile down the road from me) of Huntley bourne and Stevens 1968 as they produced a lot of ammo tins during their time in the Woodley factory.
