Not all the suffering was done in Osciecim. Here is a story of one of the millions of families. After WWII most of the attention was paid to German behaviour, little to the Soviet one. Partually because USSR was an ally, partually because USSR was behind the Iron Curtain and there was little information, and (now we know) because McCarthy was right and Communist ideas were/are dear to the hearts of American elite.
