Bloodhound Missile

Hi.One of my faves . .even had the airfix model kit when i was very young. First time ive seen film of it in flight.Cheers.Darrol

With you on that Darrol - I had the Airfix model as well.
Good friend of mine was at RAF Wyton on a `Hound` squadron - he loved it.
Anyone seen the one at Duxford?

A not very well maintained example, but most of the bumps and gadgets are shown.

Here's one at IWM and one at RAF Cosford.



The example in the IWM is an English Electric Thunderbird which was developed for the Army; the BAC Bloodhound was Air Force. At first glance they look very similar, but perhaps the most obvious differentiating feature is the pair of ramjets.

Photo shows the Bloodhound at the gate of the RAF Museum, Hendon.

Thanks for those details. I thought the fins looked different, but considered it an upgrade/model variation.
