Chapel Bay Fort, Angle, Pembrokeshire. A rapidly developing site and museum. Visited today and can well recommend it!u

Well worth a visit. The fort is run by a delightful couple (George and Emma) both of whom are extremely knowledgeable on matters ordnance. Allow plenty of time and take them the odd duplicate to put in their collection. You may need to make special arrangements to see their considerable 'reserve' collection of ammunition exhibits which await display facilities.

I'm fortunate enough to have been in Pembrokeshire last week and popped into the fort yesterday.
Unfortunately I only had an hour to spare (you need at least 2 and a half hours) so I had to do a quick tour with the camera......but plan on going back.
THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT and there is just so much stuff to see.
George and Emma were great hosts and at £5 entry you just can't go wrong.
Parking is easy in the large car park.
Cafe on site.
Hopefully the photos will upload OK.
Do make the effort to go if you are in the area but check out the web site for opening times.
Dave.

Thanks for sharing your photos Dave, some great cutaways there. Looks like a great place to visit.

It is an Anti-Zep design by Vickers. The sub-munitions are filled with incendiary composition. Eject function is like a time fuzed Shrapnel. Dates from 1916.

There is a patent for those interested in such things, GB125639. Applicants: VICKERS LTD [GB]; GEORGE THOMAS BUCKHAM [GB]; FRANCIS HENRY BARKER [GB].

Thanks Norman - you beat me to it, but having the fort open for the weekend, I haven't had the time to look in here.

We look forward to seeing all those who are so obviously appreciative as visitors to the fort.

looks fantastic, great to see this sort of stuff on public display.
The European museums seem to be more enclined to display ammo than those in UK,from what I've seen.
Planning a weeks holiday in this area in May,based around a visit here.Cant wait.

I went there again today, some more pics attached.
Thoroughly enjoyed the visit, thanks George.
Dave.

This one I'd never heard of.
Does anyone have any further information?
The one picture shows it next to a German 1kg incendiary.
Apologies for the quality of the pictures. Taken through glass.
Dave.

Dave,

It is a British 'baby bomblet'. Came in two sizes, 5 oz or 6 oz. Incendiary and a chemical version was designed. I will find some chapter and verse.
