Good Evening All,

I recently went on a road trip into the "outback" (that's anything further than 50 km from the coast!!! :)) and passed through the quiet country town of Cowra which has a "War Museum" I was always aware of, but never had the opportunity until now to visit. (Cowra is also well known for the famous WW2 POW camp)

Expecting a small number of the usual rusty relics, I stopped and visited.................................seems that apart from Military items, it has just about every thing else covering 2.5 acres.

It was raining /cloudy and the inside lighting was pretty bad, so hear are some "random" snapshots for your enjoyment.

Cheers

Drew

A big shed!
Looks like an intersting place,my kind of museum.
Always more interesting than the current polished, behind glass, interpretive style.

I love places like this, it looks like time well spent.
But, where are the bullets?

But, where are the bullets?

Unfortunately, very little was on offer apart from a small cabinet of "bits & pieces" which didn't warrant a photo, although a number of cabinets housing glass shelves had 105mm cases as support. There were what appeared to be two large perhaps 16"? naval projectiles just behind the torpedo display, which I had intentions of photographing, but as usual distracted by a family member.....................

(The stuff I had in the boot was far more interesting including the 2 x Japanese 75mmx185R steel cases)

What is not shown in the photos is the number of rail carriages containing displays, the enormous working model train set, railway memorabilia, antique phone systems, vintage camera collections and the list goes on. Its a real "Steptoe & Son" junk shop! There's even a whole section on the Cowra POW camp artifacts

What I found most disturbing was that some of the displays were in desperate need of TLC - rotting away - items have been collected over the years and just stashed anywhere - at least they stashed all the similar items together!!!!
