Demilled Projectiles

I just acquired a collection of about 300 various rounds from 20mm to 105mm, many with projectiles. A number of the larger projectiles have been demilled by having the driving bands removed. What is the best way to replace the driving bands?

Im afraid that there is no easy way to replace bands. The easiest for the sake of appearance is to build up an imitation band from copper coloured epoxy filler. Some people have swaged on new bands or soldered on copper strips but these processes require workshop facilities that not everyone has. If you search in the "restoration and preservation" section there should be several posts on this subject.

I'd first look if the projectiles are worth replacing the driving bands at all. They'll have to be very rare to take that amount of trouble. So maybe you can place some pictures of the drivingbeltless projectiles.

Are they copper bands or nylon? Would be cool to see photos of your recent acquisition :)

With the average artillery shell, the red copper is worth much more than the steel of the shell. Therefore it was often removed.
