Looking for information on this firing device.

Several pictures attached with one having it in the armed condition. Interesting thing is the lever has to be pushed up, not down.

I could be way off on this but reminds me of the old anti poacher alarms, maybe something to look into

If this device looks a bit rural ie made in a blacksmith shop then it is most probably a alarm gun, if there is machining and precision engineering its more likely made for the military
 
It reminds me of item's from around WWI in construction. Heavy material construction, yet a little crude. I will look into the poacher alarm. I have not seen those before.

Use modern 12G ones all the time here round the farm. Only problem with them is I keep scaring the bejeebers out of myself, lol.
