Hi guys! Can you confirm if it is a 37mm French mod 1877/1888? The horizontal stripes confuse me...

Thanks greetings!!

Thanks MINENAZ16, I only had the model on the left located, well... well we have a problem... I have cleaned it from the back (which is the worst) and it seems to be brass!, so there is another one more version or (most likely) a funny person modified the piece to make it look like the copper one.... although the bumps that can be seen are after the grooves... What do you think? I attach a photo I hope it can be clearly distinguished in color...

I add that mine is like the one on the left where you can see the turning of the projectile.

I think it's only a question of method of attaching the band (soft brass) and cannelures underneath, on the shell.
Example (first photo) : one side without grooves and the other side with grooves on the same band.

So, can we consider it original, even if the lines are not perfect?
Another thing... are these types of documentation PDFs or books? I locate files but they don't have such good image quality... Thank you!

Here is a projectile with missing tape. The thin sheet of brass constituting the strip being fragile, the grooves of the shell appear in relief when the sheet has been pressed on these grooves.

Sorry I can't remember where I found this drawing. I have it in my files as 37mm Model 1877 (without crimp groove).
I just found this one on the internet (same early Hotchkiss Mle 1877).

The original drawing comes from "Aide-Mémoire d'Artillerie Navale. Planches. 3e Livraison 1878, chapitre 1-Bouches à feu" ("Notes on Naval Artillery. Drawings. 3rd Edition 1878, chapter 1-Ordnance"). Unfortunately, it's not available online and the actual posted image comes from this thread, in French.
