Can someone tell me what was in this zinc box. The slots are 60mm deep and 24mm diameter.

Thanks,

Tony.

Took a quick look thru my books and calculated far over 40 artillery shell gaines of different sizes and types - and this is just the beginning. Bomb and grenade gaines come additionally. So, there also are quite many different sizes of tins and bakelite containers for them.

Just caught up with this one, thanks for that MB.

The one I was thinking of was the type that Phil (Satan18) has in his collection, very similar design to this. see link http://www.bocn.co.uk/vbforum/favourite-gaines-t58680.html?t=58680
As Tmine35 has also just pointed out there must be an assortment of these containers for the various gaines. Could form an interesting collecting field in its own right.

regards
Kev
