M24-HGR Spec....

Hi,
Fresh of the press, this is a blueprint for the M24-HGR
all dimensions are taken from a nice clean one I have.

Regards
Nick

If you have AutoCad I can send the original.

Stick grenade (home made prop)

well, ive assembled some bits and pieces,

The wooden shaft is starting life as a rolling pin!
The cannister is starting life as a aerosol can (that i have found the correct size!!!)
Thats about it so far.
Just need to shape the handle on a lathe.....

I have picked up a sheet of 'leteraset' alphabet transfers,to use for the grenade lettering.
Not sure if this will be of interest to anyone, but I begrudge paying for a prop when they can be very easily made.

home made stick grenade

Well ive made my own stick, from a rolling pin, dennis the menace metal kids flask (The Range store),hammerite tin lin (for lip around can)
plastic neck from a small kids juice bottle (ASDA) to slide over wood handle up to can.

The tin lid was glued then screwed to sawn off end,the can was filled with pva glue mixed with sawdust, and just snapped straight on top of tin lid nice and tight.
The pull cord end cap was made by carving into the wood with a dremel.

I hunted down these parts, armed with a tape measure for their 'ready made size' to avoid too much messin about.
and yes i did get some funny looks measuring all sorts of containers!!!
The paint job was a mix of artist and Revell model acrylics.

Ive constructed the stick from diagrams of an original, sent to me from a real gent on this site..
see what you think.
its pretty accurate, I think gives a nice representation, and on first impression is almost spot on,give a millimetre or two..

I havent got a lathe so had to smooth and shape handle by hand, this was quite hard as the wood was quite tough
(burnt it over a gas ring till wood blacked then used rasp and sandpaper) the letering is 'letra set' rub on transfers, that i slightly rubbed down with very fine wet and dry,for the used look.

Finally, added a small smear of cooking oil to bring out the grain of the wood without the cheap look of gloss varnish.
Thanks

*special thanks to senior member jeeesy...*

Rocket,mine,bazooka,mortar?
I wonder if this is the correct place for this moderators?

Thankyou so much for the positive comments, very kind.

Stick Grnd,

Hi 18pounder,
Have just seen your stick grnd, very nice, you have done a good job there.
looks impressive, I like to make a few things myself, but always pick hard projects, bit stupid i know but worth while after. My nixt project is a panzerfaust 60, I have drawn up the plan but will wait til the spring now as the weather is awfull down here.
Let us know your next project.
dave.

panzerfaust

hi mate
do yo know the measurements to a panzerfaust?

it doesnt look difficult.
I always go for "optically" right,if it looks right, what the hell.

Also production standards affected kit throughout ww2.
Most kit varied slightly, due to quality of materials or workmanship or slight diffrences in paint finish.

Here's another pic of the stick grenade, though you may already have this.
