Yes, in your second picture there is a 38/40M base fuze.

Here is the 36/40M base fuze for the 36M HE projectiles:

Hi,
Yes - 40mm wz.36 it's Polish stamp.
But I never seen Polish case like this one.

I'think its case made for Poland, but definitely not in Poland.

Regards.

I think its a Polish case......

I think the B with the arrow through it is Bofors manufacturing mark so its a Swedish export case for Poland.

I've got (and thanks for comfirming its identity) a 40-wz-36 case with 4-39D around the bottom half of the headstamp, is this the date?

Yes.
4-39D
4 - set number

39 - date (1939)
D - code from brass supplier, here D means "Dziedzice" manufactory.

Before 4-39D stamps, It should be factory mark - "ST" in circle;
ST - Starachowice factory

Regards.

Hi,

And here Polish 40mm Practise (Inert) Bofors Projectile with steel fuze imitation;

Regards.

40L60 Polish

Can comfirm my case has the S and T in a circle as well as P over1 in an oval also on primer and A in circle and 5 also on the case base. This leaves a couple of questions, what was it doing in a Bournemouth antique shop in 1987? and why did I spend 7 on it? my guess on the last question is that it looked interesting and I was feeling rich.

Thanks again for the info.
