Gloucestershire Regiment Button

Here is a Gloucestershire Regiment uniform button from Imjin River in Korea.


I am very uncertain about how I could remove the green debris and dirt.

I have read various methods, such as peroxide but don't want to damage the item.

I would like to make a display, so need to clean it and seal it to be framed.

Can anyone with more experience offer any advice?

I would think that it would be better to put the button on a card with the location of where it was found and it's historical significance. The patina on the button was acquired from it's exposure to the elements and should be preserved.
Would it clean up? probably not. The brass is probably pitted and would never look like new.
Keep it in it's current state. The button has a tale to tell.
