I try to know what is the real weight of a german 7.5cm HL Gr38 series (filled and fuzed).
This german doc indicates 4.2kg. Is it for a filled or empty shell ? (explosive charge : 530g).

Hello,
Here a 5.2kg shell HL Gr.38 without fuze.
I don't know if it's empty.

Thanks.

That looks filled and seems to have the gaine at the bottom.
On the other hand, it makes sense for the shell to be this light assuming it has relatively thin walls and a massive empty cavity in the middle.

Good morning,
Could loading in sand be possible?
This would explain the difference in weight given the density.

More likely a failure in the manual

Inert filled shells had the same weight as live shells and instead sand tar was used.
