ID Shell...

Well, well. The 151mm lenght is expected, since it falls into the ballpark of 150+/-1mm we know from the other French made 53s, but 148mm is unexpected.

That makes an entirely new type of shell haven't seen or heard of before, because it's French-made, non-standard lenght and fitted for a Romanian Krupp Md.04 fuze.

The manual describes only the Romanian made Model 1915 shell fitted for the Md.04 fuze with a lenght of 142mm (because it was made by modifying the existing production line for the M.1887/88 common shell by cutting 8mm from the ogive after casting) or the Romanian (one piece, either cast iron or semi-steel, with the latter painted light brown and marked FO for "Fontă Oțelită" where the normal shell is black with a yellow ogive) and French made (multiple pieces, machined steel, painted light grey) shells fitted for the French 24/31 fuze Md.99/908 but not a French made Md.1915 made for the Md.04 fuze.
