Interesting 90mm RCL case from Sweden

Well-Known Member
Hello...just received this case from the 90mm KAFT RCL anti-tank gun.
It surely has the longest neck of any cartridge case...
Base to shoulder is 260mm
Base to neck is 340mm
Overall length 760mm
So neck length is 420mm !
Base diameter is 124mm
System use an electric primer on side of case.
There is a location slot for primer alignment.
Various stampings are there...probably been reloaded a few times.
For comparison the last photo shows it with 90x600R US case ,
90x598R French case (also with a fairly long neck) , 90x353R Cockerill

90mm RCL case from Sweden

:tinysmile_twink_t2: Thanks for shareing your data, I am getting some top notch photos from BOCN
Thanks to all
Frank

One very loooong neck

Very nice case as well as the others.
See what you mean about the neck as it really is the longest one I have seen.
Thanks for showing us.

But did Jane's get this wrong?
In their books they seem to illustrate this round but describe it as 90x610R
Nor seem to mention that it is recoilless. Hmm. Maybe a correct entry with wrong picture ? Any Swedish ammo or RCL experts have anything to say ?

90mm RCL Sweden

I am amazed at what information BOCN provides, I had previously posted a thread asking what this projectile was (I thought it was a proj. because of the rifling marks), but couldn't figure out what. Now because of this new thread I know, you would not believe it but I even have a cart. for it & now the two items are living together happily ever after.

Thanks everyone, another mystery solved!

Regards Ozzi.

Ozzi,

That's fantastic!

Does anyone else have a projectile, cartridge case, training/drill cartridge they can show?

There was just recently a a "trench art set" of 3 casings with wood projectiles on ebay. If I remember correctly 2, 25 pounder casings, and an unknown casing. I was going to buy the large casing but the guy never responded. It was said it was some kind of RCL casing, but no idea other than that. Now I know! Same casing, polished and in good condition. What do these casings go for?
