Military Convention at Malvern was pretty good today and i bought the following items of ordnance and thought id share em with the members.

30mmx165 Honeywell Experimental 'Dummy' round for the Philco Ford 30mm aircraft cannon which was the rival contract to the 30mm GAU 8A Avenger cannon. This example is 1972 dated. Projectile is blue with steel body and aluminium point and large plastic driving band projectile is marked "HHR 81-7-72 30MM TP MHR 5-3 72". Case is a light greyish aluminium and has hexagonal screw in the primer. Case is marked "DURABLE DUMMY".

30MMX173 GAU8A Avenger Dummy round inside the plastic loading sheath (dont know what these are called?). Case is olive green aluminium and marked in white "28110100-001J 30MM DUMMY PGU16/B" There is hexagonal screw in the primer.

35x228 Oerlikon fired green steel case. Headstamping is: "35x228 DM1001 LOS PSW -1-109-X".

Russian P-TAB Cluster Bomblet.

As usual this show is just enough to please most people and i was quite happy with what i got to add to the collection. Regards, Tim

Looks like you did very well, well done. Like the fluted case.
Dave.

Was really pleased with that experimental 30x165 Philco Ford cartridge, as never expected to see one at Malvern. That 35mm case had the green colouring stripped on extraction by look of it as it is not indented just flute lines where paint has been stripped. The guy said it maybe Argentine Falklands ere but was not sure.
