I just started looking up where some of the WW2 HE Shells in my collection were made and was surprised that my 75mm M48 HE shell was made by the Louis Marx Company - the same company that made some of the toys I played with when I was young. I doubt his toys were sold in Europe but in the 1960s they made some incredibly detailed WW2 Russian, Japanese, German and US 6" figures which were sold at dime stores here in the US. My 3 figures pictured have miraculously survived. Marx had a small contract for 75mm M48 and only produced a batch in 1944. They also had a late war run of 3" M42A1 and 105mm M1 - wonder if any other "LMC" shells have survived? PS- the kneeling German is really hard to knock down in a rubber band battle - pick him first!
