Mills grenade J GW

Hi,

A fellow collector friend has just scored this grenade and was wondering if anyone could fill us in on the manufacturer etc.

The base plug has the markings;

M36 M1
g

18
J & GW

I presume that it would be a Mark 1 Mills made in 1918. Would that be correct. The manufacturer J & GW I'm not sure of and country.

The body is marked HP and the lever is marked RBD

Many thanks in advance.
Cheers,
BOUGAINVILLE

Nice grenade . The base plug is James Gibbons of Wolverhampton & it is , indeed , a WW1 example . I don't know who HP were but I think Tom or Dave could answer that .

I dont Know who H.P was but RBD is R.B. Davies & Co. Australia and i have only a base plug from WW2. Dave

Many thanks siegfreid and millsbomber. Both of your help is very much appreciated.

Does anyone out there know what manufacturer HP stands for?

Cheers,
