Here is an early U.S. Naval round that you won't see too often. It's a 6"/40 brass casing with it's inert AP projectile. The dimensions of the casing are 6 & 1/4 X 41 & 5/8. The projectile is 20 & 3/4" in length. I've included a photograph of a 6"/40 gun that was removed from the U.S.S. Maine after it's sinking in 1898 and put on display at the Washington Navy Yard.
