Nazi Coins at Beltring

Did anyone receive any mutilated British coins at Beltring this year ?
We were passed a mutilated 50p piece at our stall with Nazi insignia stamped over it..
The coin has been over-stamped with the German Eagle and Swastika over the Queens head and the SS symbol on the other face.
Just wondering if this was a one-off or were there other cases ?

someone actually makes them at beltring as souvenir pieces i think they will stamp anything people want stamping but coins seem to very common

The attached image shows a 2 pound coin defaced at beltring (not mine belongs to a Facebook friend)

Just read the law/rule governing the U.S. concerns about defacing coins(money in general). The intent of the law, it seems, is if you are defrauding someone by doing it, then you're a bad person and will be sanctioned. Changing a "1" to a "10", etc. While these Beltring curios are defacement in general, they are not fraudulent and hence, you'd be less apt to be carried off to the pokey for doing it or possessing one.

Legality aside it is not very pleasant to see the Queen's face defaced with a Swastika.

yes and the law is different in England..it is illegal to deface the image of the Queen/King on postage stamps and coins...a trip to the tower and off with your head for anyone caught doing it:bigsmile:

Agreed. Hopefully, the "stamper" was merely displaying his skills vs making some political statement. Can't imagine anyone taking offense from anything the Queen has ever done and certainly nothing as extreme as claiming her in the same fold as Nazis. They do it over here all the time with political BS, but the Queen is, well and rightly, much above all that.

Unfortunatly we got scammed by a punter at Beltring who gave us one of these in payment for goods. We only found out when the bank rejected our takings :-(
Bad punter ... !
