Went to a friends house today and took a few photos of his grenades, not my thing but thought they would be of interest.
First off is a number 70 Drill grenade (don't worry Ben, I've not bought it!:tinysmile_twink_t2:).
Dave.

Interesting same "tower" and pull tape as the No 69 as well as the same pointy screw in the bottom as the 69.

The 70 (one pound) and the 71 (two pounds) were basically cast-iron versions of the 69 and designed at much the same time (1940) although both were 'shelved' - the No70 was revisited later in the war to meet a Far East requirement. There were also experimental cast-iron jackets for the 69.

Wow. They can't come around often can they?

In my limited experience No70 several dozens in a lifetime; No 71 three times in a lifetime; 69 With Jacket twice in a lifetime.
